Pancake Day

On Shrove Tuesday class 2 made blueberry pancakes, all the children thought they were delicious and they even got Mr Mathias' seal of approval!

Here is the recipe if you would like to make them at home.
American Style Blueberry Pancakes

250g self-raising flour
1 tbsp baking powder
115g sugar
2 eggs
275ml milk
100g blueberries (or raisins)
Oil for frying

Put the flour, baking powder and sugar into a bowl, mix and make a well in the middle.
Whisk together the eggs and the milk and gradually whisk into the dry ingredients to make a thick batter.
Add the fruit and mix with a fork.
Preheat a frying pan. Add a little oil and pour 2-3 spoonfuls of the mixture per pancake into the pan.
Cook until golden brown and turn over to colour the other side.
Allow to cool for a couple of minutes.
Drizzle with sauce of your choice and serve.

Shrove Tuesday Pancakes

We measured all the ingredients carefully
We mixed half the liquid in first to stop it going lumpy

Then we poured in the rest and gave it another good mix.

We cooked the pancakes on a special machine which meant we could all have a go at turning them safely (and we got to eat them at the same time!)

We put our favourite toppings on.

Then we tucked in!
